Anantnag, Aug 27: Residents of Thajiwara Achabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district blocked Anantnag-Achabal road and staged protest against Jal Shakti Department for “failing” to provide drinking water supply to the area.
According to the protesters, mainly women, the residents face acute shortage of drinking water supply. They alleged that they have brought to the notice of concerned department several times but “our pleas fall on deaf ears.”
They appealed the authorities to provide them the drinking water at earliest so they will not face the problems.
“The concerned department and government make only tall claims but we do not get drinking water,” they said as per reports reaching GNS and urged higher authorities of concerned department for redress the issue urgency. Repeated attempts to contact the concerned officials for comment did not fruity. (GNS)
