Initial investigation points towards drugs being drone dropped from accross: ADGP Jammu
Jammu, July 26:(GNS) Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered 12Kg of Heroin, cash approximately Rs 11lakh of cash from the possession of three persons in Jammu districts.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that in a major success Jammu Police while working on a specific information has recovered 12 Kgs of heroin and cash approx Rs 11 lakhs at a special naka established in the jurisdictions of Police station Bahu Fort. The approximate value of drugs seized is around 24crores in the international market.
According to the police spokesman, ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh IPS, said that Jammu Police led by Chandan Kohli IPS, working on a tip off laid a special naka in the jurisdiction of PS Bahu Fort by special police teams of Police station Bahu Fort constituted under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma, SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and led by SHO PS Bahu Fort Inspr Nayat Ali.
Three suspects travelling in the Verna car bearing number PB02 CQ 7749 were rounded up and during their search 12 Kgs of heroin and cash Rs11,00,000/- has been recovered from them. In this regard, a case FIR no. 197/2022 U/S 8/21/22/27/29 NDPS Act got registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and 3 accused were arrested, he said.
Giving further details, he said that the accused arrested have been identified as Sarvwan Singh son of Kala Singh resident of Amritsar, Malkeet Singh son of Gurmeet Singh resident of Amritsar and Balbir Singh son of Balbinder Singh resident of Amritsar, he said.
ADGP Jammu said that Jammu police is working tirelessly to uproot the chain of drug supply in the region. Thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs taking into account both the forward as well as backward linkages. From the packing material of the drugs, it appears to have been dropped by drones. Further details will be available after detailed interrogation, reads the statement.(GNS)
