SRINAGAR:Tik-Tok, the world’s one of the most downloaded application, something that most parents have never heard but among young generations including kids it is becoming one of the favorite application, and has created a large number of user base in Kashmir as all videos of young boys, kids as well as girls are going viral on social media.
Gulam Muhammad Mir, a parent said, “Our Kashmir is known as Pirwar, we are culturally as well as morally civilized but unfortunately our youngsters especially girls are disgracing moral values by uploading such videos on social media.”
“The ethos of Kashmiri’s are different, as Muslim majority society it is against the manners, it may result in more drastic changes in the orientation of youths, and they may come with something more immoral and unethical stuff on social media if not carefully handled,” he said.
Tik tok a social media app is used for creating and sharing videos as well as for going live, launched in September 2016 by Bytdance, It is a leading short video platform in Asia and has extended to other parts of the world, becoming one of the fastest-growing apps with a large community across several countries for short music videos.
Veena a social activist said, “This application can be utilized to dance, hone creativity, and expand the network of friends.”
If used properly our youngsters can use tik tok app for showing their talent but unfortunately this application is misused by some of its users, it is used for wasting time, referring to harassment especially on Islam, there has been a user Tik Tok to make a prayer video with a dance creating a huge negative impact on religion.
