Srinagar 29 Jan (KNZ):Tilla embroidery still catches the eyes of one and all in Kashmir.Its popularity is in vogue in city and villages .
This type of handicraft is crafted on women garments espically on Traditional attire of Kashmir Faran .It give sparkling look to the garments.
Earlier tilla work was limited to pheran now it’s being designed on various garments like suits,shawls and sarees.
Tilla work is done with odd silver,gold and many different colours of threads.Tilla designs are done on lower neck,cuffs and lower border of the garments.
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ correspondent talking with Haseena Bhat a senior tilla worker she told that tilla work is more popular in Kashmir handicraft.Tilla embroidery on pheran takes almost a month to complete.
Some even use machines to mark tilla on garments but it is considered dead handicraft beacause handicraft is all about doing things with hand.
Elegance of hand made tilla is matchless and never goes out of style.
In market different type of tilla are available like,hangul, caravan, star and diamond etc.
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ correspondent tallked with Ab Rashid Wani senior tilla worker he told that,” A machine work tilla is done on women as well as men garments to give a stylish look.Tilla designs are done on back front cuffs broder shoulder of the garment people preffer a machine tilla work because it’s costs less and it take only one or two days to complete as compare to hand made tilla.Hand tilla work take one month or more than one month to complete”.
“The demand of the machine tilla work is more other than hand tilla work only beacause it takes less time and money but those who know importance of handmade tilla work prefer it over machine made tilla work ” he added.KNZ
