Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two local Hizb Ul Mujahideen militants at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that acting on a credible input about movement of militants in Dugripora Panzgam area, a joint naka was established at Panzgam railway underpass by 55 RR, Awantipora Police and 185 CRPF late Tuesday evening.
“At around 9.30 pm two persons were spotted going towards Panzgam who were asked to stop but they ran towards village Dugripora. The duo was chased and apprehended.”
The officer said that upon their search one UBGL thrower, two hand grenades and some ammunition of AK series was recovered.
The militants have been identified as Jan Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz resident of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir ul Islam son of Shabir Ahmed Shah, a resident of Panzgam.
The duo are affiliated with HM outfit and case under relevant sections of Arms Act has been registered against them in Police Station Awantipora.
