Kulgam: Thousands of people on Wednesday participated in the last rites of slain militant in Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.An eye witness said that the funeral prayers of Farhan Ahmad Wani, offered twice to accommodate the huge rush of mourners, were led by his father Ghulam Ahmad Wani.
Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised by the mourners during the funeral, he said.Massive clashes erupted in the area after he waslaid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Khudwani.
Youth took to streets and clashes with the government forces deployed in the area.Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across Kulgam and Anantnag district to mourn his killing.Internet continues to remain suspended in twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam since yesterday.
However, the service was barred in Pulwama district on Monday following a gunfightin Chadoora area of Budgam. Farhan was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Larnoo forests in Kokernag area of Anantnag district yesterday.
Hizb commander forAnantnag district Ashraf moulvi is believed to have given a slip to the forces in an injured condition.
