Says, successful operation in Panipura kills two terrorists, highlights key role of local cooperation in ensuring security
Srinagar, Nov 08 (NVI): As a decisive counter-terrorism operation, the army on Friday said they have successfully killed two terrorists in the Panipura village of Baramulla district, on November 8.
The operation, dubbed “Operation Panipura,” was launched based on reliable intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
“The operation commenced on November 7 after security forces received specific intelligence about two suspected terrorists hiding in Panipura. A joint and coordinated effort was then initiated by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who swiftly cordoned off the village,” said the Commander of the Army’s Kilo Force, Deepak Mohan, as briefing media, as per News Vibes of India—(NVI).
He said, during the operation, suspicious movements were noticed, and upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire at the forces, attempting to take cover behind nearby houses. “The security personnel carefully retaliated against the gunfire while ensuring the safety of the local residents,” he said.
“As the operation progressed, local homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The movement of the terrorists was carefully monitored using quadcopter surveillance, which allowed the forces to respond with precision and control,” he added.
Similarly, “The confrontation continued into the early hours of November 8. When the terrorists resumed firing, the security forces, remaining alert and precise, responded decisively, ultimately neutralizing both terrorists,” said the Commander.
In the meantime, the identification of the slain terrorists is still underway. However, preliminary information indicates that they were affiliated with a terrorist group that has been active in North Kashmir for some time.
Recently, in the past weeks, there have been several successful operations led by the Indian Army and JKP, resulting in the neutralization of multiple terrorists across the region. Moreover, officials expressed their gratitude towards the local population for their cooperation and unwavering support in maintaining peace in the area.—(News Vibes of India)
