Baramulla, Feb 16: A team of forest officials from Baramulla Forest Division on Tuesday seized Tata mobile vehicle carrying illicit timber at Tragpora area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Divisional Forest Officer, Pervaiz Wani told KNS that they received specific information about the movement of illicit forest produce and laid nakka at Tragpora.

“Early morning, one Tata Load carrier vehicle bearing registration number JK05A 2267 loaded with illicit Deodar timber was intercepted. The driver of the vehicle fled from the spot and the vehicle was seized by forest officials. The vehicle was searched and was found loaded with deodar timber 18 No.s=71.85 cft without valid documents,” he said.

He said that as per preliminary investigations conducted, it has emerged the vehicle was loaded at Patoosa village by one person namely Ashiq Hussain.

The forest department has taken up the matter with Police authorities for further investigations into the matter. (KNS)
