Kupwara, 12Jun:To add to the beautiful landscape of Kupwara town, Vajr Division of Indian Army organised a ‘Mural Painting Competition’ on Sunday, 12 June, 2022.
11 artists from Kupwara, including one female and 10 male artist participated in the event to draw murals and paintings depicting the rich culture, heritage, and beauty of Kashmir and messages to spread peace, drug awareness.
The artists beautifully presented their perceptions on the 125 feet wall adjacent to the Sub Divisional Hospital in Kupwara market and created a vibrant melange of colours, depicting the uniqueness and beauty of Kashmir.
The wall art was judged by a jury comprising of Commanding Officer _Kupwara Terrier’s_, Commanding Officer _41 RR_, Mr Shamim, President, Hotel and Restaurant association,Kupwara.
Maj Gen AS Pendarkar GOC Vajr Division, Kupwara appreciated all participants and presented cash awards to the top 3 paintings – ₹ 20,000 for the 1st, ₹ 15,000 for the 2nd and ₹ 7,500 for the 3rd. All other artists received ₹ 1,500 and appreciation certificates for their work.
Indian Army is committed to promote local talent in different fields and to support the youth of Kashmir in their well-being and development. Events such as the ‘Mural Painting Competition’ are appreciated by the locals and go a long way to establish the Army Awam connect.
