Ganderbal 19 June (KNZ): A number of villages in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district are up in arms against the PHE authorities as they are facing water shortage from past many days.

According to reports, many villages of Ganderbal district which include Sarech, Babsipora, Arch,Wayil, Rabitar and Nuner are facing water shortage.

We have to fetch water from other places, whereas the PHE department is least bothered about our problem,” said Imtiyaz Ahmad a local resident.

Local residents of Arch Village told Kashmir News Zone-KNZ that they often face drinking water scarcity.

Given the low pressure, the pipeline to our village particularly to Dar Mohalla is not able to supply water most of the time. We have been requesting the PHE department to install pipeline from nearby Dudkant village in order to ensure continuous water supply but the department has always turned a deaf ear to our pleas,” said locals.

They further said that they can’t wash clothes, take bath and cook properly and threatened to take to streets if water supply was not restored.

When contacted Executive Engineer PHE Ganderbal told KNZ , “There is a tecnical problem in the canal where from water is supplied to the villages .We are on it We will resume water supply to these areas as soon as possible.”

Who so ever is facing water scarcity as of now can contact PHE control room Ganderbal ,we will send water tankers to the effected villages.” He added.KNZ
