Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar (IPS) on Tuesday said that army and police are ready to deal with any “misadventure” from across the Line of Control (LoC).IGP in his maiden visit to north Kashmir’s frontier district said, “The infiltration attempts are expected to happen when snow melts, but we are ready for foiling any such bids of militants along the LoC.”Army and police are ready to respond, he added.Kumar said there has been a sharp decline in violence-related incidents and militant recruitment process in Valley.

He appealed youth to avoid drugs which he said takes them towards self-destruction. He stressed on the need of awareness programmes and counselling the youth regarding the health hazards of substance abuse.“Youth need to refrain from misusing social media and should focus on studies and sports,” IGP said.

Earlier, the IGP reviewed the security scenario and interact with civil society members and jawans.“During his visit, the IGP interacted with the Police, CAPF officers and discussed different security measures taken for the maintenance of law and order in their respective areas”.He stressed for enhanced coordination between different security agencies for maintaining law and order.

He also appreciated the Police and security personnel for handling the situations in a professional manner.SSP Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar-IPS, CAPF officers and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion. (GNS)
