In a brazen violation of rules and regulations and without waiting for the court verdict, Government MedicalCollege has handed over the canteen of Super Specialty Hospital to a blue-eyed person who is selling eatables and beverages to attendantsand patients at exorbitant rates.Reports said that Government Medical College had issued a tenderfor the running of a canteen at Super Specialty Hospital on November 29. A number of interested parties emerged and fulfilled all the formalities. However, one of the party approached court to stall the process.Ironically, instead of defending the case in the court of law, authorities handed overthe contract to the plaintiff, leaving all other parties in a state of shock.“This is total injustice towards us. How can Medical College authorities without fulfilling any formality and defending their case inthe court of law hand over the contract of the canteen to the plaintiff. This is sheer injustice and total violation of rules and regulations,” said the interested parties who had submitted their tenders. They alleged that Health authorities have given a free hand to the said person and he has been charging high rates from attendants and patients in the canteen. “Government Medical College authorities don’t bother to check whether the person running the canteen has been following the rate list issued by them. The said person ischarging Rs 60 for a chicken piece instead of Rs 30 and so on,” they said. They threatened to hit the roads in case Government Medical College doesn’t settle the issue under law. They appealed Governor Administration to look into the matter.
