Bandipora, Oct 2 (GNS): Scores of households in Haqqani Mohalla in Chandergeer village of Bandipora district by and large continue to remain in darkness as the low-tension poles erected a year before are yet to see the transmission of electric supply.
A local delegation told GNS that the employees of Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) Sub-division Hajin erected Low Tension (LT) poles in the area, offering a glimmer of hope for improved power supply. However, they said, this hope has since dwindled as the poles stand idle, devoid of wires and a transformer.
Distressed local residents said they are facing a dire situation without a proper power supply.
“Rusted wires dangle precariously from decaying wooden poles and trees, a stark reminder of the unfulfilled promises made by the authorities from time to time,” they said.
“Despite numerous appeals and efforts to engage with the concerned department, we find ourselves entangled in a web of bureaucracy, with officials repeatedly citing the delay as a consequence of tender proceedings,” the locals added.
Residents have appealed the authorities to swiftly address their grievances and provide the much-needed power connection they have been promised for so long.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer of KPDCL Sub-division Hajin didn’t respond to multiple phone calls made by this reporter. (GNS)
