KARGIL, JANUARY 28, 2021: As a part of ongoing 13 days Zanskar Winter Sports and Youth Festival 2021, snow sculpture exhibition was held at Muskit Chumik Zanskar here today.
His Holiness the Ponlop Rinpoche was the chief guest on the occasion.
Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Councilor Cha Constituency Stanzin Lakpa, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zanskar Sonam Dorjay besides sub divisional officers and large number of local people were present.
Speaking on the occasion, His Holiness Ponlop Rinpoche appreciated the local artists for exhibiting their talent by making various snow sculptures. He urged the people of Zanskar to act compassionately towards animals adding that the snow has covered the whole region thus leaving the animals like dogs etc with no food to eat and asked people to take care and look after these animals.
Meanwhile, the two teams including State Awardee Tsering Gurmat and team designed snow igloo and local Ladakhi hut while local artist from Zanskar Odzar Gyaltsan and team designed a statue of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche and the Emblem of India.
Later, various groups of artists from including Ama Tsogspa and Nachungma performed colorful folk songs and dance.
