Baramulla: The Mining Department has intensified its enforcement drive against illegal mining and unauthorised transportation of minerals across Baramulla district, resulting in the seizure of 35 tippers in the past eight days.
The enforcement action has been carried out across several areas, including Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Rafiabad and Kreeri, as part of efforts to curb violations of mining rules and prevent the illegal transportation of minor minerals.
The department has stepped up field inspections and checking of vehicles involved in the transportation of minerals. Vehicles found operating in violation of the prescribed rules have been seized and proceeded against under the applicable provisions.
District Mineral Officer (DMO) Baramulla, Kaiser Ahmad, has maintained a strict enforcement approach and directed field teams to take action against violations without exception.
The department has also reiterated that transportation of minerals without valid permission, documents or in violation of prescribed norms will invite action as per law.
Officials said enforcement measures will continue across the district, with particular focus on vulnerable areas, to ensure compliance with mining regulations and curb illegal activities.
The intensified action is aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance, protecting natural resources and ensuring that mineral transportation is carried out only through authorised channels.
