Srinagar: The revered annual ritual of Poshak Bandi, the ceremonial changing of the cloth over the grave of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (RA), was held at Charar-i-Sharief on Monday. This event marked the beginning of the annual Urs celebrations for Kashmir’s venerated Sufi saint, also known as Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) or Alamdar-e-Kashmir.
The Poshak Bandi ritual holds deep spiritual significance, symbolizing reverence and renewal of the connection between devotees and the saint. During this ceremony, the caretakers carefully drape a new, ornate cloth over the grave, a practice that represents respect, devotion, and the continuity of Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani’s legacy.
