Ganderbal, Apr 25: Ganderbal Police organised a series of drug awareness programmes across educational institutions in the district under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan,” officials said on Saturday.
The programmes were conducted at Riyaan Public School Baba Wayil, Government High School Shallabugh and Shaheen Public School Manigam, where students and staff participated actively.
The main event was held at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Shuhama, where police officers addressed students on the harmful effects of substance abuse.
Participants were sensitised about the ill effects of narcotics, legal provisions under the NDPS Act and the importance of collective responsibility in curbing drug abuse.
Officials urged the youth to stay away from drugs and play a proactive role in promoting a drug-free society.
Police said such awareness drives will continue as part of efforts to tackle the drug menace in the district.
