Baramulla, June 6: In a significant move aimed at maintaining public order and security, Baramulla Police have detained a woman under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) for her alleged involvement in unlawful and anti-national activities.
According to an official statement, the detention warrant was executed on May 30, 2026, against Haseena Begum, wife of Mohd Yousf Bhat and a resident of Sheeri, Baramulla.
Police said the woman was involved in multiple criminal cases registered across different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The preventive detention was carried out following an order issued by the District Magistrate, Baramulla, under the provisions of the Public Safety Act. Acting on the warrant, police took the detenue into custody and subsequently lodged her at District Jail Bhaderwah.
Officials stated that the action forms part of ongoing efforts to curb activities deemed prejudicial to public order and security.
Baramulla Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the district, asserting that strict legal action will continue against individuals found involved in activities posing a threat to public safety and security.
