Ganderbal Police Launches ‘Pahchan App’ for Verification of Service Providers Ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026

Ganderbal, June 9: In a significant step towards strengthening security and enhancing pilgrim facilitation during the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, Ganderbal Police has launched the “Pahchan App”, a QR code-based digital platform for the registration and verification of service providers operating in Sonamarg and along the Baltal axis of the annual pilgrimage.

The initiative aims to create a secure, transparent and accountable service ecosystem for pilgrims and tourists visiting the region during the Yatra season.

The platform covers individuals engaged in various tourism and pilgrimage-related services at key locations, including Thajwas Glacier, Zero Point Zojila, Main Bowl Sonamarg, Baltal axis, the Yatra trek route and adjoining areas.

Under the system, every registered service provider is issued a unique QR-based digital identity, enabling instant verification by security personnel as well as visitors. The move is expected to streamline verification procedures, strengthen preventive security measures and prevent unauthorized individuals from misusing the pilgrimage and tourism ecosystem.

Officials said the app will also improve the overall visitor experience by promoting transparency and accountability among service providers. The availability of verified service personnel will help tourists and pilgrims make informed choices while enhancing trust and confidence in local services.

In addition, the initiative seeks to support genuine service providers by providing them with authenticated digital identities, facilitating smoother interaction with visitors and authorities.

With the launch of the Pahchan App, Ganderbal Police continues to leverage technology-driven solutions to enhance public safety, improve service standards and ensure a secure, organized and pilgrim-friendly environment during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
