Ganderbal Police Seize 5 Vehicles Involved in Illegal Mining Activities

 

Ganderbal, June 9: Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Ganderbal Police seized five vehicles, including four tippers and one tractor, for illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Lar, Safapora, and Gund.

According to police, the vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed rules and regulations. The vehicles were seized on the spot, and the matter was subsequently referred to the concerned Geology and Mining Department for further action.

Officials said the Geology and Mining Department imposed the requisite fines under the relevant provisions of law against the offenders.

Ganderbal Police reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal mining activities across the district and safeguarding natural resources. The police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting such unlawful activities.

Authorities have warned that strict action will continue against individuals involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
