GANDERBAL, 15 June: In a major administrative development aimed at revitalizing the local education sector, Mr. Nazeer Ahmad Khan formally assumed charge as the new Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Ganderbal district today. This transition follows a sweeping administrative reshuffle ordered by the School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir under Government Order No. 227-JK (Edu) of 2026, issued by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS). Mr. Khan, who previously served with distinction as the In-charge Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Pampore, replaces Mr. Oneel Kumar Bhat, who has been concurrently transferred to take over as the CEO of Ramban district.
Upon his arrival at the Chief Education Office in Ganderbal, Mr. Khan was accorded a warm welcome by senior staff members, officials, and various heads of educational institutions from across the district. Stepping straight into his new role, the newly appointed CEO immediately chaired a high-level introductory meeting with departmental staff and educational officials to lay down a definitive roadmap for the district’s academic future. During the interaction, Mr. Khan emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for laxity, placing the enforcement of strict punctuality and high accountability among both teaching and non-teaching staff at the top of his agenda. His vision focuses heavily on driving academic excellence by implementing robust monitoring mechanisms to track and improve student learning outcomes across all government schools in Ganderbal.
Furthermore, Mr. Khan committed to aggressive infrastructure and resource mobilization, ensuring that local schools are rapidly equipped with modern teaching aids, functional laboratories, and upgraded basic amenities. He also directed officials to accelerate the resolution of pending administrative matters to establish a completely streamlined and smooth workflow within the department. Addressing the gathering, the new CEO stated that the administration’s focus will remain entirely student-centric, urging everyone to work collaboratively as a team to bridge any gaps between policy implementation and ground-reality execution.
