Srinagar, June 26(GNS): Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat-IPS, on Friday chaired a comprehensive security review meeting of Jammu Zone at PCR Kashmir to assess preparedness for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that the meeting was attended by senior officers including Spl DGP Coordination J&K, GOC 26 Div, Commissioner SB Jammu, IGP Railways, IGP Security, IGP Jammu, IGs of CRPF and BSF Jammu, DIGs of various ranges and forces, and SSPs from Jammu Zone.
At the outset, the DGP reviewed the prevailing security scenario and logistical arrangements at critical locations along the Yatra route. Officers briefed him on deployment plans and anti-sabotage measures.
The DGP called for seamless coordination among the Army, CAPFs, Intelligence Agencies, civil administration, and J&K Police to maintain a robust security grid throughout the Yatra period. He directed officers to ensure comprehensive area domination, intensified checks, effective access control at vulnerable points, and enhanced surveillance through optimal use of technology.
Stressing high visibility policing and quick response capabilities, the DGP instructed that all Standard Operating Procedures be followed meticulously with real-time monitoring. He also reviewed traffic management and convoy regulation, directing smooth vehicular movement with minimal inconvenience to pilgrims and the public.
He emphasized close coordination with health services, disaster response agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless arrangements for devotees.
Reiterating that the safety, security, and confidence of pilgrims remain the foremost priority, the DGP urged all officers to remain alert and professionally prepared to meet any eventuality. He said the goal is to ensure the Shri Amarnathji Yatra is conducted in a peaceful, secure, and incident-free manner, reads the statement. (GNS)
