IGP Kashmir Reviews SANJY-2026 Security Preparedness; Multi-Agency Briefing Held at PTS Manigam

GANDERBAL, June 26, 2026:In preparation for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, a comprehensive security briefing was conducted on Friday at the Conference Hall of the Police Training School (PTS), Manigam, to review deployment plans, contingency measures and inter-agency coordination for the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage along the Baltal axis.

The briefing was attended by officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) deployed for SANJY-2026.
The session was led by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi, IPS, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Central Kashmir Range, Shri Rajiv Omprakash Pande, IPS, and DIG Armed Kashmir, Shri Maqsood-Ul-Zaman, IPS. The senior officers emphasized the significance and sensitivity of the Yatra and stressed strict adherence to the approved security and contingency plans for the Baltal axis.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Shri Sudhanshu Dhama, IPS, along with other district police officers, presented a detailed overview of the security deployment strategy, operational preparedness and area-specific responsibilities. The officers were also briefed on various contingency plans to effectively respond to any emergency or unforeseen situation during the pilgrimage.

The briefing focused on key aspects including route security, enforcement of cut-off timings, area domination and night domination, surveillance, traffic management, emergency response mechanisms and seamless coordination among all security and civil agencies to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims.

Addressing the officers, the IGP Kashmir underscored the importance of close coordination, proactive policing and effective communication among all stakeholders to maintain foolproof security arrangements throughout the Yatra period.

The officers reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and peaceful environment for devotees undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 while facilitating smooth and hassle-free movement along the Baltal route.
