Cloudburst Damages Houses, Shops in Doda; LG Orders Immediate Relief, NH-244 Restoration

Says on X no casualties or injuries reported; directs district administration to provide immediate assistance to affected families and expedite restoration work.

Srinagar, July 7(KNZ/TMJ): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday directed the district administration to ensure immediate relief and assistance to families affected by a cloudburst in the Thathri region of Doda district and expedite restoration work, including the clearance of National Highway-244.

 

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner of Doda to assess the situation after the cloudburst, which damaged several houses and shops.

 

“Spoke with the DC, Doda to assess the situation following the cloudburst in the Thathri region. While several houses and shops have suffered damage, fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. I have directed the DC to ensure immediate relief and assistance to the affected families and expedite restoration work, including the clearance of NH-244,” Sinha said on X.

 

The Lieutenant Governor said that despite the damage to residential and commercial structures, no loss of life or injuries had been reported.

 

He instructed the district administration to ensure prompt relief for the affected families and prioritise restoration efforts to restore normalcy in the area. He also directed officials to expedite the clearance of NH-244 to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic.

 

The district administration has initiated relief and restoration measures, while officials continue to assess the extent of the damage caused by the cloudburst.(KNZ/TMJ)
