Tourism Department Kargil Conducts Tourist Unit Registration Camp at Drass Under Ladakh Tourist Unit Unified Registration Order, 2026

 

Drass, August 03, 2026: As part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate the registration of tourism establishments and strengthen regulatory compliance in the tourism sector, the Department of Tourism, Kargil, today organized a Special Tourist Unit Registration Camp at the Tourist Bungalow, Drass, under the provisions of the Ladakh Tourist Unit Unified Registration Order, 2026.

 

The day-long registration camp was conducted to provide on-the-spot registration facilities and extend technical guidance to tourism stakeholders for registering their establishments in accordance with the provisions of the new regulatory framework.

 

The camp witnessed an encouraging response from the local tourism fraternity, with over 60 applicants registering their tourist units across various categories, including hotels, guest houses, homestays and travel agencies. The participation reflected the growing awareness among stakeholders regarding the importance of formal registration and compliance with the prescribed tourism regulations.

 

Officials of the Department of Tourism provided comprehensive assistance to stakeholders throughout the registration process. They also conducted awareness and handholding sessions on the online provisional and permanent registration mechanism available through the official Ladakh Tourism portal www.tourism.ladakh.gov.in. Detailed demonstrations were given on the registration procedure, mandatory documentation, eligibility requirements and the benefits of registration under the Ladakh Tourist Unit Unified Registration Order, 2026.

 

The stakeholders appreciated the initiative of the Department in bringing registration services closer to the community and providing direct assistance in completing registration formalities. The outreach programme was widely welcomed as a facilitative measure aimed at simplifying the registration process and promoting a more organized, transparent and accountable tourism sector.

 

The Department informed that a similar Special Registration Camp will be organized on August 5, 2026, at Tourist Reception Center/Office of AD Tourism, Main Market, Kargil providing another opportunity for tourism stakeholders of Kargil District and also Drass District who could not participate in the first camp. Owners and operators of hotels, homestays, travel agencies and other tourism establishments have been requested to attend the camp or complete their registration online through the official Ladakh Tourism portal at www.tourism.ladakh.gov.in.

 

Stakeholders may also visit the office of the Assistant Director, Tourism, Kargil, during office hours for any assistance or guidance related to the registration process.

 

Reiterating the significance of registration, the Department stated that the registration of tourist units is essential for ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework, maintaining service standards and enhancing the credibility and quality of tourism services in the Union Territory.

 

Tourism stakeholders have been urged to complete their registrations at the earliest and contribute towards the development of a well-regulated, sustainable and visitor-friendly tourism ecosystem in Ladakh.
