Flash Floods Hit Shopian Villages, Homes Inundated; SDRF Deploys Rescue Teams

Srinagar, Aug 3 : Intense rainfall triggered flash floods in Shopian district on Monday, inundating several houses in Badrhama village and causing panic among residents.

 

Officials told GNS that the sudden downpour led to an overflow of water into residential areas, damaging property. Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries have been reported so far.

 

According to eyewitnesses, floodwaters entered homes within minutes, forcing multiple families to evacuate to safer places as water levels rose quickly.

 

A team from the local administration and emergency services reached Badrhama to take stock of the situation and coordinate relief work. The full extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained.

 

Separately, SDRF officials said Zawoora area also witnessed severe waterlogging. “SDRF personnel are already on ground in Zawoora carrying out rescue operations. Additional teams have been dispatched to Badrhama for assessment and assistance,” an official said.

 

Authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation and further updates are awaited.(GNS)
