CBI probes alleged manipulation of postings, policy decisions, tenders and land-related matters; electronic devices and documents seized
New Delhi, Oct 7 (KNC): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Punjab Chief Minister and five others following directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a report received from the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
According to a CBI press release dated October 6, 2026, the agency has initiated an investigation into allegations of corruption involving the OSD to the Punjab Chief Minister and his associates.
Allegations of influencing official decisions
The allegations under investigation relate to the alleged influencing and manipulation of postings of government officers, including IAS and IPS officers, departmental proceedings, policy formulation, administrative approvals, tender conditions, licensing matters, land-use conversion, property disputes, and revenue and land-related issues in exchange for alleged pecuniary benefits.
The CBI has also alleged that certain public servants accessed and provided drafts of government orders and policies to private persons before their official issuance by the government.
Six persons booked
The CBI has booked six persons, including two public servants, middlemen and associates.
Those named in the FIR include Rajbir Ghuman, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Punjab; Nitin Gohal; Jitin Gohal alias Raja; Romi Raja Mahajan; Bir Devinder; and R.S. Nagra, besides unknown public servants and private persons.
Searches at eight locations
Following registration of the case, the CBI conducted extensive coordinated searches at eight locations across Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur and Jalandhar.
During the searches, the agency seized electronic devices and documents, including laptops and mobile phones, from premises linked to the accused persons.
The seized material is being scrutinised by investigators for evidence relating to alleged bribery and other improprieties.
Further investigation underway
The CBI said that further investigation into the case is in progress.
The agency reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption and bringing those involved in bribery and corrupt practices to justice.(KNC)
