Poonch, Oct 7 (GNS): The safety of residential girl students at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Chak Banola has come under question with the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Mendhar raising alarm over the absence of Warden during night hours.

As per GNS, ZEO Mendhar has written to Chief Education Officer Poonch, pointing out that the present Warden is available only during school hours and does not stay at the hostel at night.

The issue came to fore recently when a girl student residing in the hostel fell seriously ill during night hours. In the absence of the Warden, the Chowkidar and some locals had to take her to hospital for medical care.

Such a situation, the ZEO noted, raises serious concern over safety and emergency supervision of residential students.

The ZEO has mentioned that the matter was earlier flagged before the competent authority vide communication No. ZEO/Mdr/2026/961 dated 31-08-2026 seeking replacement with a full-time residential Warden, but immediate intervention is still awaited.

Seeking top priority action, the ZEO has requested the CEO Poonch to replace the present Warden and post a suitable full-time Warden who shall remain available at the hostel during residential hours in the larger interest of safety and welfare of girl students. (GNS)
