J&K Police Concludes Girls Badminton Tournament In Shopian;Sedow School emerged victorious

 

Shopian October 07: Continuing its efforts towards youth engagement, empowerment and promotion of sports among girls, Police in Shopian concluded a Girls Badminton Tournament at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sedow, organised under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026–27.

 

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from various teams representing different schools. The participating students displayed commendable talent, competitive spirit, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The final match of the tournament was played between the school teams of Heerpora and Sedow, with both teams displaying excellent skills, enthusiasm and sportsmanship. The Sedow school team emerged as the winner of the tournament.

 

The event provided a valuable platform for young girls to showcase their sporting abilities and encouraged them to pursue healthy and constructive activities. The participants were appreciated for their enthusiasm and encouraged to continue pursuing sports while maintaining discipline, teamwork and the spirit of fair play.

 

The concluding ceremony was presided over by SSP Shopian Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, accompanied by DySP Headquarters Shopian, SHO Police Station Heerpora and the Chief Education officer Shopian. The SSP Shopian presented cash prizes and Certificates to the winning team and appreciated all the participating teams for their enthusiastic participation and commendable sportsmanship. Mementos were also presented to the participating teams and players in recognition of their enthusiastic participation in the tournament.

 

Police emphasised that such initiatives under the Civic Action Programme are aimed at strengthening police-public relations and encouraging youth towards healthy and productive pursuits, thereby contributing to the collective goal of building a drug-free and crime-free society.
