Scores of members of the outfit, which is a constituent of Hurriyat (G), raised pro-freedom slogans during the protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar. The protesters were holding a banner, which read, “No to bilateralism, Only tripartite talks or UNO resolution.”
Addressing the media-persons, Yasmeen Raja, Chairperson, Muslim Khwateen Markaz said talks were held on Kashmir issue hundreds of times. “But they have proved to be a complete failure,” she said. Raja said she has “no expectations from the interlocutor’s visit”. “These talks have been documented which are available with Government of India. Previously held talks have not benefited Jammu and Kashmir in any way. The atrocities on Kashmiri people have been increasing with each passing day,” she said.
Several rounds of talks in the past, she said, have been just “tokenism”. “The message from people in Kashmir is loud and clear that we oppose the visit of the interlocutor. His visit adds insult to our injury. His statement that his visit to Kashmir is aimed for return of peace in Kashmir but let us tell him that peace won’t return till Jammu and Kashmir achieves freedom,” Raja said.“Our leadership has already put forth their six-point formula which, among others, demands that Kashmir should be accepted as a disputed territory. There will be no talks on Kashmir till involvement of Pakistan is ensured,” she said.
