Woman’s Earlier Bear Attack Had Triggered Concern Among Locals; Wildlife Team Reaches Spot After Animal Is Trapped

Bandipora, October 9 (KNC): A bear was trapped in a cage installed at Hapathnar in the Konnan area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday morning, providing temporary relief to residents who had been concerned about the presence of the wild animal.
According to reports, the bear was trapped at around 7:00 AM after a cage was installed by the concerned authorities several days ago following an incident in which a woman was reportedly attacked by a bear in the area.
Following information about the animal being trapped, the Man-Animal Conflict (MAC) team rushed to the location and carried out an operation to tranquilise the bear.
The incident had raised concerns among local residents, who had urged the authorities to take appropriate measures to prevent further human-wildlife encounters and ensure the safety of people in the area.
The trapping operation is expected to help address the immediate concerns of residents. Further details regarding the animal’s handling and subsequent relocation, if any, were not immediately available.(KNC)
