GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 20: District Election Officer Ganderbal (DEO), Dr. Piyush Singla today reviewed the preparedness ahead of Panchayat election 2018 here at a meeting of district & Sectoral officers.
The meeting held detailed discussions on requirement of Returning/Assistant Returning Officers as per topography of the area, list of polling stations with polling locations, Identification of zones and sectors besides collections Centre and identification of counting centres.
The DEO asked the officials that polling stations should be in vicinity of the populated area without any advantage or disadvantage to any community.
During the meeting, the BDOs gave their suggestions regarding the change of location of several polling stations and ROs/AROs stations taking into account the topography of area, space, mobilization, security concern and other facilities.
After reviewing ward wise polling stations and locations of ROs/AROs stations, the location of few polling station and AROs location was changed keeping in view the feasibility, space, mobilization and security scenario. SSP Ganderbal shared vital security related inputs to the overall plan for deciding polling stations, locations, RO/ARO locations.
The District Election Officer directed the concerned BDOs to ensure implementation of directions for the smooth conduct of the Panchayat election process in letter and spirit. He stressed for timely dispatch of polling parties, security personnel, and polling material especially in far flung areas for the smooth conduct of Panchayat elections in the district.
During the meeting the DEO focused on the finalizing and implementation of election strategies for Panchayat elections in the district. He prompted the concerned officials to make efforts to reach out the people on the ground level.
DEO urged upon all Incharges and Co-Incharges nominated for Panchayat elections in the district to do extra work as the time for Panchayat elections is approaching besides continue their endeavors for generating awareness among people about the importance of establishing grass root level democratic institutions for overall development of the district.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal, ACD Ganderbal, BDOs, SHOs and other concerned officers.
