GANDERBAL, MARCH 11: As CEO announced schedule for conduct of General Elections in the state, in later hours the District Election Officer (DEO), Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan along with SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal held press conference at Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Ganderbal regarding ensuing general elections 2019.
While briefing the media persons the DEO said with today’s announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) shall come into force with immediate effect and the same shall apply in twin constituencies of the district going to polls and also for the candidates, the political parties, the Government concerned besides social media accounts will also come under implications of MCC.
In this behalf all the officers working in District Ganderbal shall adhere to the MCC instructions and other instructions of the Election Commission of India issued from time to time, he added.
For strict application of MCC, the DEO said that the citizens, if found any violation of MMC, can also register a complaint online on “cVIGIL app” against such candidate or political party.
On security in the district and for the polling stations, SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal said a foolproof security plan is in place for all the polling stations besides elaborate and separate plans for hypersensitive, sensitive polling stations. We have looked into all the aspects and put forth all necessary arrangements for smooth, free and fair elections, he added.
For strengthening the democracy at the grass root level, the DEO appealed the people to participate in large numbers in upcoming elections and expected high participation of people in elections in both the constituencies of the district and all necessary arrangements are put forth for smooth and fair elections in the district, he added.
The DEO appealed media fraternity to play its role in the conduct of smooth, fair & transparent elections in the district. He hoped that the media will provide their full cooperation in this regard.
