SRINAGAR 15 SEPTEMBER: The meteorological department on Tuesday predicted that weather in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain dry till September 20.
Director Meteorological department (MeT) J&K said, “weather conditions across Kashmir would remain dry adding that there is no forecast of any major rainfall till September 20.
Kashmir valley has been witnessing prolonged dry spell as in the month of July J&K recorded the lowest ever rainfall since the last four decades.
An official said that Srinagar city recorded a maximum temperature of minus 30.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Qazigund town in south Kashmir was 29.5 degrees Celsius while nearby Kokernag town registered 27.5 degrees Celsius last night.
Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded 20.0 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town recorded 29.6. The temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at 26.3 degrees.
Jammu city recorded 35.1, Katra 32.2, Batote 27.9, Banihal 29.8 and 30.8 in Bhaderwah.
