GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 01: The Phase-II of polling in district Ganderbal witnessed in Kangan A, B and C DDC constituencies and the vacant seats of Panchs and Sarpanchs which began amid tight security arrangements from 7 am and concluded at 2 PM.
Polling concluded peacefully in 3 constituencies of DDC that went to polls today in which 15,777 out of 32,135 voters, voted to choose their representatives in their respective councils.
During the day District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba visited several far flung polling stations of Kangan and inspected the implementation of necessary guidelines including adherence of COVID protocol during polling process. He also interacted with agents of political parties/individual candidates and voters who raised few issues which were redressed on spot.
Foolproof security arrangements had been put in place for smooth voting and adequate arrangements were also put in place to ensure that smooth, free and fair elections are held in the district. The voters also appreciated the district administration for making elaborate arrangements to ensure free and fair Elections.
Pertinently 194 candidates are in fray for Phase-II of DDC and Panchayat By-Elections of vacant Sarpanch and Panch seats which include 27 for DDC, 13 for Sarpanch and 154 for Panch seats for which 171 polling stations were established with sufficient strength of polling staff.
