Directs respective district admins to submit report within week
Srinagar, May 06 (KNO): The divisional commissioner Kashmir on Thursday asked all the district heads Kashmir division to conduct Fire Safety, Power Supply and Mechanical Systems audit of all the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and Covid Care Centres in their respective districts.
An order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), issued by divisional commissioner Kashmir, PK Pole, said that the Fire Safety, Power Supply and Mechanical Systems audit should be conducted without any delay o as to prevent any untoward incident and ensure safety of life and property.
“In view of unprecedented situation of Covid-19 in the valley, the patient load has increased manifold in Covid-19 dedicated Hospitals and Covid Care Centres as a result of which these institutions are experiencing a lot of pressure. The Oxygen Generation Plants, Manifolds, other Mechanical Systems and dedicated Feeders are functioning round the clock in the Covid Hospitals resulting in manifold increase in the use of electricity in these institutions making them high risk fire prone,” the order states.
It states that further, there had been fire incidents in several hospitals in various parts of the country claiming the lives of Covid-19 patients and staff.
“As such you are directed to constitute & Joint teams and get the Fire Safety, Power Supply and Mechanical Systems audit of all the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals and Covid Care Centres and corrective action to be accordingly undertaken without any delay so as to prevent any untoward incident and ensure safety of life and property,” the order reads.
The divisional commissioner has also asked the district administration to ensure provision for Power backup, necessary repairs, buffer transformers etc., at each of these sites.
