GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 21: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting to review the progress of implementation of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) in the district.
At the outset, brief discussion was held on services provided including institutional and non-institutional under the scheme, major child protection concerns, role and responsibilities of statutory bodies and Special Juvenile Police Units.
The meeting was informed that two Child Care Institutions are established in the district viz. Markazi Falahi Itifal and Duri-Yateem Social Welfare Organization and both are registered under Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
For effective implementation of the scheme, the DC called upon the concerned officials to widen their reach and intensify public outreach programmes under ICPS. He said that the scheme is based on the cardinal principle of protection of child rights and best interest of the child.
He asked the concerned officials to adopt a realistic approach in fulfilling the objectives of ICPS to contribute for improving the wellbeing of children in difficult circumstances, as well as reduction of vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead to abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and separation of children.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; DySP HQ, District Juvenile Welfare Officer and other officials of District Child Protection Unit.
