Uri, Dec 13 (GNS): Sarpanch Halqa Boniyar and Bernate alongside several PRI members are on a sit-in strike at Main Chowk Boniyar for second consecutive day, to seek timely redressal of various demands of the areas falling in frontier Uri town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The agitated public representatives have been demanding revocation of new electricity bills tarrif, deputation of permanent officers including BMO, Tehsildar and BDO besides establishment of Fire Service Station and Wildlife Control Room at an earliest.
Block Development Council Chairman Boniyar and locals of the area have in the meantime extended their support to Sarpanchs and PRI members for the ‘genuine issues’.
Sarpanch Bernate Boniyar, Wali Mohammad Mir told GNS that he is on hunger strike for second day and will continue to remain (on hunger strike) unless they receive in any assurance in writing from the administration.
He alleged that the people of Boniyar have been always ignored by the authorities, due to which the local populace is suffering badly. “We even had protested before this also, but received nothing except for hollow promises and assurances”, he said.
Tehsildar Uri Rayees Abdullah, who also holds additional charge of Boniyar, visited and interacted with the public representatives. Upon listening to the highlighted grievances, the official assured the protestors that the grievances have been taken into account and would be taken up with concerned authorities for early an redressal.
