Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNC): District Disaster Management Authority Shopian and District Disaster Management Authority Baramulla have announced Civil Defence Air Raid Mock Drills and Blackout Exercises in their respective districts on April 24, 2026, aimed at enhancing emergency response and preparedness mechanisms.

According to official orders as per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the exercise in Shopian will be conducted at Government Degree College Shopian in two phases, with the mock drill scheduled at 2:00 PM and the blackout exercise from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM.

Meanwhile, in Baramulla, the drill will be held at Showkat Ali Stadium, with the first phase at 12 noon and the blackout exercise at 8:00 PM. The exercise will involve multiple agencies including police, SDRF, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Health, Education, and other departments.

Officials said the drills will include simulation of air raid warnings, evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, and coordinated emergency response as per standard operating procedures.

Authorities have clarified that these are mock exercises and there is no cause for panic. The public has been advised to remain calm, follow official instructions, switch off lights during the blackout phase, and avoid spreading rumours or misinformation.

Officials added that movement may be regulated in certain areas for smooth conduct of the drills and urged citizens to extend full cooperation in the interest of public safety. (KNC)
