Srinagar, January 8, 2026:The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir Media Department on Thursday convened a comprehensive review meeting at the Party Headquarters in Srinagar to assess and strengthen its media strategy aimed at effectively countering misinformation and enhancing coordinated communication across the Union Territory.
The meeting was chaired by Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah, State Co-Media Incharge, BJP J&K, along with Zaman Noor, Co-Convenor, BJP J&K Media Department. The session witnessed active participation from media representatives of various districts and morchas, reflecting the party’s emphasis on unified and disciplined media engagement.
Prominent attendees included Irfan Sofi, Co-Convenor, J&K Media Relations Department, and State Media Co-Incharges Harbinder Singh (Minority Morcha), Rather Mehraj (Kissan Morcha), Mubeena Akhtar (Mahila Morcha), and Junaid Khatana (ST Morcha). District Media Incharges Aqib Bashir (Ganderbal), Iqbal Malik (Baramulla), Umer Zahoor (Bandipora), Akash Latif (Anantnag), and Sagar Rafiq (Kupwara) were also present.
The deliberations focused on strengthening media coordination, adopting modern communication practices, enhancing engagement with print, electronic, and social media platforms, and building stronger professional relationships with journalists. Emphasis was laid on developing fact-based counter-narratives to effectively rebut misinformation campaigns.
Addressing the gathering, Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah stressed the importance of upholding the party’s core ideology while maintaining communal harmony in line with the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas. He expressed concern over deliberate attempts by certain political elements to mislead the public regarding development initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in the post–Article 370 era. He urged media functionaries to counter false narratives responsibly and with dignity.
Zaman Noor highlighted the pivotal role of the Media Department in projecting the BJP’s vision, policies, and achievements. He termed it unfortunate that some local leaders are resorting to divisive politics and spreading false propaganda to create fear among communities for narrow political gains. He reiterated that BJP, as a national party, maintains high standards of discipline and communication.
The meeting also reviewed recent controversies allegedly manufactured to mislead the public. On the occasion, newly appointed State Co-Media Incharges of various morchas were felicitated by the State Media Department in recognition of their responsibilities.
The session concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to strengthening BJP’s media presence across Jammu & Kashmir. A detailed action plan was finalised for systematic media engagement at district and grassroots levels, along with regular review meetings to ensure effective implementation.
