Bandipora: Civil Society Sonawari on Saturday held a press conference to express gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Ms. Indu Kanwal Chib (JKAS), for her patient hearing of public grievances and her people-friendly approach during her recent visit to Sumbal in Sonawari.
The press conference followed the Deputy Commissioner’s official visit to Sumbal on January 6, 2026, which was organized on the public invitation of Civil Society Sonawari. The invitation had been extended nearly two months in advance, reflecting the strong desire of the local population to engage constructively with the district administration and highlight long-pending developmental issues of the area.
During her visit, Ms. Indu Kanwal Chib appreciated the scenic beauty of Sonawari and interacted cordially with the public. The programme was held in a participative and congenial atmosphere, where various public delegations presented their grievances and developmental demands.
The Deputy Commissioner patiently listened to all concerns and assured that issues falling within her administrative jurisdiction would be addressed on a priority basis, while matters beyond her authority would be taken up with higher authorities along with appropriate
On the occasion, Chairman Civil Society Sonawari, Haji Bashir Ahmad Dar, submitted a comprehensive memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner highlighting key public issues and developmental works required across the entire Sonawari constituency, covering all Tehsils Upgradation, widening, and macadamization of inner link roads across Sonawari ,Utilization of Manasbal Lake as a drinking water source for Sumbal and Hajin,Construction of a footbridge near Sumbal Bazaar, Tundpora
Upgradation of NTPHCs, hospitals, and overall medical infrastructure,Upgradation of schools across Sonawari
Establishment of a J&K Bank branch at Nowgam, Sumbal,Construction of a Mini Secretariat at Irrigation Colony, Sumbal,Establishment of independent medical blocks
Posting of specialist consultant doctors and establishment of a dialysis centre at Hajin Establishment of blood banks at Sumbal and Hajin
Completion of pending works at Mini Secretariat Hajin.
