Ganderbal, Apr 24: Ganderbal Police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized a large quantity of contraband during naka checking in the district, officials said on Friday.

The arrests were made within the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora after a vehicle was intercepted during late evening checking.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police team.

During search, around 100 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from the vehicle and seized on the spot.

The accused have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Batwina and Mudasir Ahmad Hajam of Arampora in Ganderbal.

A case (FIR No. 61/2026) under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation is underway.

Police said the crackdown against drug trafficking will continue and urged the public to share information about such illegal activities.
