Ganderbal: In a continued effort to curb the spread of misinformation and harmful online activities, Ganderbal Police have taken action against 14 individuals for the misuse of various social media platforms.

The action follows surveillance by the monitoring unit, which detected multiple instances of misleading, defamatory, and provocative content circulating online. Police officials confirmed that several posts had the potential to disturb public order or violated established cyber laws. After verification, individuals including Imtiyaz Ahmad Saad, Yaqoob Ahmad Dandroo, Arbaaz Irshad, Sajad Ahmad Lone, Danish Ahmad Ganie, along with others, were held accountable for their digital misconduct.

The police emphasized that social media should be used responsibly and warned that any attempt to circulate fake news, incite communal tension, glorify unlawful acts, or create public panic will attract strict legal action.

Authorities have urged the public to verify information before sharing, avoid spreading unverified posts, and report suspicious or harmful online content to the nearest police station.

Ganderbal Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a safe digital space and stated that monitoring of online platforms will continue to prevent misuse and ensure public safety across the district.
