GANDERBAL, AUGUST 31: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, who is also the Principal Census Officer for the district, today convened a meeting to review the preparedness for Census 2027 in Snow-Bound Areas of District Ganderbal.

The meeting reviewed the preparedness of the concerned Census Charge Officers for the commencement and timely completion of Census related activities in the snow bound areas of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all Charge Officers to ensure that appointment orders of enumerators are issued in a timely manner and comprehensive training of all appointed enumerators is completed before commencement of the field exercise. He stressed that the enumerators must be adequately trained in the prescribed procedures and use of the Census application before undertaking household enumeration.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed that mobile devices used by each enumerator must conform to the prescribed specifications and be properly configured to facilitate smooth and uninterrupted updation of Census data.

Emphasising the importance of accuracy, the Deputy Commissioner directed the enumerators and supervisory staff to ensure that correct and complete information is captured and updated for every household, with due care to avoid errors, omissions or duplication.

He stressed that each and every household in the identified snow-bound areas must be covered in a time-bound manner, and directed the Charge Officers to closely monitor field progress and ensure that the scheduled commencement and completion of the Census exercise is adhered to strictly.

The Deputy Commissioner also called for regular monitoring of field-level progress, prompt resolution of technical or operational issues and close coordination among all Census functionaries to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise in the challenging snow bound areas.

He directed the concerned officers to maintain proper coordination with the District Census Cell and ensure timely reporting and updation of progress, so that any gaps in coverage are identified and addressed without delay.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Chief Planning Officer Ganderbal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, all Charge Officers, District Coordinator Census 2027, District Master Trainer Census 2027 and officials of the District Census Cell, besides other concerned officials.
