Pulwama, April 25, KNT: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Police in Khrew apprehended an alleged drug peddler during a naka checking operation and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Official sources said that a police team from Police Station Khrew, headed by SHO PS Khrew Inspector Naieem Rashid, established a naka at Seer Colony Khrew Road as part of intensified anti-narcotics measures in the area. During checking, one suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to search.
The accused has been identified as Razi Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Sharshalli. During his personal search, police recovered 1.82 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
The recovered contraband was seized after completing all necessary legal formalities, while the accused was taken into custody on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 31/2026 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khrew, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and possible network involved.
Police reiterated their firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from society and appealed to the general public to extend cooperation by sharing any information regarding drug peddling or related unlawful activities in their localities.(KNT)
