Ganderbal Police Foil Drug Smuggling Bid; 3 Kg Contraband Seized, Two Arrested

Ganderbal 08 January:In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, J&K Police at Ganderbal successfully foiled a drug smuggling attempt and apprehended two individuals with a substantial quantity of contraband during a surprise naka at Central University Crossing.

Police officials deployed at the naka noticed two persons moving from Baroosa towards Central University under suspicious circumstances.

Acting swiftly, the alert police team intercepted and apprehended the duo for checking.

During a thorough search, the police recovered approximately 3 kilograms of a contraband powdered substance resembling Bhang from their possession.

The seized narcotic substance was confiscated on the spot following due legal procedures.

Consequently, a case FIR No. 01/2026 under relevant sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kheerbawani, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized contraband.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against drug menace, Ganderbal Police has urged the general public to remain vigilant and cooperate by sharing credible information related to drug trafficking, contributing towards a safe and drug-free society.
