Ganderbal Police Foil Liquor Smuggling Bid; One Arrested, Huge Consignment Seized

Ganderbal, November 9 (KNZ):In a major crackdown on illegal trade, Ganderbal Police foiled a bid to smuggle illicit liquor and arrested one person involved in the act during a late-night operation at Model Naka Chinar.

Acting on the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS), and under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan, a police team led by SHO Police Station Kangan intercepted a red-coloured Maruti Jimny bearing Chassis No. MA3JJC74088 during routine checking.

Upon thorough inspection, the police recovered a large quantity of illegally transported liquor from the vehicle. The driver, identified as Tariq Aziz, son of Manzoor Husain Qazi, resident of Bhatidar Mendhar, Poonch, was taken into custody on the spot.

Following the seizure, a case under FIR No. 71/2025 was registered at Police Station Kangan under the relevant provisions of the J&K Excise Act. The investigation has been initiated to trace the source and intended destination of the consignment.

Ganderbal Police reaffirmed its resolve to maintain strict vigilance and continue its relentless action against all forms of smuggling, illegal trade, and activities harmful to public health and safety.
