“Initiative Aims to Promote Transparency, Accountability and Responsible Journalism”
Ganderbal: In a significant step towards promoting transparency, accountability and public trust, the Ganderbal Press Association (GPA) has established a Public Grievances Cell to address concerns related to media coverage and strengthen constructive engagement between the public and the media.
The decision was taken by the Executive Body during its maiden meeting held in Ganderbal following the Association’s elections last month.
Waqar Manzoor, Aqzar Raheel and Shahid Jeelani have been inducted into the Public Grievances Cell. The members will work towards addressing public concerns related to media coverage, encouraging responsible journalistic practices and facilitating constructive feedback and dialogue between the public and media professionals.
The initiative will provide the public with a platform to raise concerns regarding alleged yellow journalism, misleading reporting or unethical media practices. The cell will examine such concerns and take appropriate steps within the Association’s remit to promote fairness, accuracy and accountability in journalism.
Meanwhile, Ehsaan Yousuf has been appointed as the Site In-Charge of the Association.
The establishment of the Public Grievances Cell underscores GPA’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of journalism, strengthening public confidence in the media and ensuring that the profession continues to serve the community with integrity and responsibility.
The Association reiterated that responsible journalism, transparency and accountability remain essential to maintaining public trust and fostering a healthy relationship between the media and society.
