Govt Teacher Held With Heroin-Like Substance in Kulgam’s DH Pora: Police

Kulgam, May 14 (KNC): Police in DH Pora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district apprehended a government teacher during naka checking at Waripora village and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession, officials said on Thursday.

 

According to police, the accused has been identified as Arsheed Ahmad Lone, son of Wali Mohammad Lone, a resident of Waripora DH Pora. He is presently posted as a teacher at Government Middle School Waripora.

 

Police said the accused was intercepted along with his vehicle bearing registration number JK18D-8772 (i10 Nios) during routine checking by a police party from Police Station DH Pora.

 

During the search operation, a heroin-like substance was allegedly recovered from his possession. However, the exact quantity of the recovered substance is yet to be ascertained.

 

In this regard, FIR No. 44/2026 under sections 8/21 and 25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station DH Pora, and further investigation has been taken up.

 

Police said more details are awaited in the case.(KNC)
