Kulgam, September 10: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri Sujit Kumar, IPS, on Wednesday visited the twin South Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Shopian to review the overall security situation, counter-terrorism operations, crime prevention measures and law-and-order scenario.
IGP Kashmir was accompanied by DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Javed Iqbal Mattoo, IPS.
During his visit, the IGP chaired security and crime review meetings in both districts, which were attended by the respective Senior Superintendents of Police and other senior and jurisdictional police officers. The SSPs briefed the IGP on the prevailing security situation, anti-terror operations, counter-insurgency grids, crime prevention strategies and measures being taken to maintain peace and public order.
Reviewing the operational preparedness of the forces, Sujit Kumar stressed the need for proactive intelligence gathering, close coordination among security agencies and swift responses to emerging security challenges.
He directed field formations to maintain sustained pressure on terrorist networks and reiterated a zero-tolerance approach towards elements attempting to disrupt peace and public order.
As part of the visit, IGP Kashmir also inspected Sub-Division D.H. Pora in Kulgam, where he interacted with supervisory officers, Station House Officers and personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG).
The visit focused on strengthening the security and counter-terrorism grid while enhancing crime prevention and ensuring effective maintenance of law and order across the two districts.
